Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of The Sandman, Neil Gaiman and DC Comics, will be launching four ongoing Sandman Universe series, to explore, as Gaiman puts it, corners of the Sandman Universe.

Sandman Universe

The project is set to launch in August 2018 with a Sandman Universe 'the story thus far' volume, which is intended to bring readers up to speed with what’s happening in Dream’s realm:

The four new series to follow are:

  • House of Whispers, written by Nalo Hopkinson; a series that will “explore how the voodoo deity Erzulie ended up in the Dreaming with her house."
  • Books of Magic, written by Kat Howard; a “follow up on Gaiman’s 1990 miniseries of the same name and explore Timothy Hunter’s magical education as he’s torn between two powerful destinies.”
  • The Dreaming, written by Si Spurrier; a series following “The Sandman supporting characters like Lucien the librarian and Matthew the Raven as they navigate a Dreaming without Dream.”
  • Lucifer, written by Dan Watters; “which finds [Lucifer] blind and destitute, trapped living in a small boarding house in a quiet town where no one can ever leave.”

The Sandman Universe #1, a story plotted by Gaiman but co-written by the four series writers, will debut in August followed by The House of Whispers and The Dreaming in September with Lucifer and Books of Magic hitting shelves in October.
